3 Mindsets to Living More than Conqueror

Christ came to the world so that we might be overcomers in Him. But how does that happen, especially when we are feeling so weary, burdened, or distraught?

Right now, you may be going through something very difficult, and you see no way out. Voices in your mind keep saying, “I am a failure. I am a victim. I have no hope.”

Jesus knows what you are going through. He comforts us by saying: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Living victoriously in every situation begins with the right perspective which we get from God’s Word.

The following three Biblical mindsets shared by Pastor Danny Leong, Executive Pastor and Executive Administrator, will shift your perspective away from your lack and onto God’s promises, which will never fail you.

Mindset #1: You are a victor, not a victim

Do you see yourself being “torn apart” by your situation? Or do you see yourself as being more than a conqueror?

As believers, we have something immensely extra – the power of God with us.

Even though we are all “fragile clay jars” (2 Corinthians 4:7), God’s power holds us together. This is the amazing gift of God to all believers. By His spirit in us, we have supernatural power to withstand all trials that come our way.

This is why we can feel pressured on all sides, but we will never be destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:9). In fact, these battles only make us stronger. If life feels like a constant battle right now, know that it is in the battle you emerge “more than a conqueror” – and that’s who God’s destined you to be.

A diamond is born when a piece of coal endures enormous pressure and emerges a precious gemstone

Recognize your true enemy is (no, it’s not your spouse or the colleague sitting next to you). It’s the devil and our flesh. (Ephesians 2:1-3)

The enemy will always seek to attack you, especially in your mind. Don’t partner with him by choosing to think of yourself as victim. Hold on to the truth: You are a victor!

Mindset #2: You have divine help on your side

Do you face life’s battles alone? Or do you believe God is always by your side, fighting for you?

One of the most misquoted Bible scriptures is, God helps those who help themselves. This exists nowhere in the scriptures! In fact, Jesus constantly invites us to cast all of our cares on Him. This includes every small and big problem we face. This is because He cares about every part of us, even seemingly insignificant details such as the number of hair on our head.

When you lean entirely on Jesus and not to your own understanding to figure out life’s problems, you are living by faith. Living by faith in Christ means all of heaven’s resources are available to you.

As believers in Jesus, we have received His righteousness, and God can hear our prayers. He is always near, especially when we are in difficulty. He will never abandon us to solve our problems on our own.

If the enemy comes against you like a flood, remember that the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him! (Isaiah 59:19)

Mindset #3: You are loved beyond your wildest imagination

Do you feel insignificant and inadequate? Or are you always conscious of God’s love for you?

You are priceless. God gave up His one and only Son to redeem you, so you must mean the world to Him!

Before Jesus underwent a season of trials in the wilderness, God reminded him this: “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” Today, if you are a child of God, God is reassuring you of the same thing.

In good times and bad, we must grow in the knowledge of His love. Like a tree planted in good soil that remains standing in all kinds of weather, the love of Christ will keep us rooted and established through all seasons.

His love is super-abundantly more than all we could imagine and the only thing that truly satisfies. Be completely filled up with God’s love for you, and there will be no room for depression, insecurity, or the lies of the enemy in your life. You will walk in Christ’s supernatural peace and power over all the storms of life.

We can be confident that we grow increasingly in victory as we renew our minds, lean on God, and commit ourselves to know the love of Jesus more and more.

You can be a Romans 8:37 Christian – one who is MORE than a conqueror, meaning that with every challenge, you are restored to a position that is better and stronger than before.

The next time an intense challenge comes your way, you don’t need to cower in fear.

Instead, say aloud: God’s grace will strengthen me in every area of weakness. I will emerge stronger, and I will take this opportunity to occupy more territory for the Lord. Problems may come at me, but God is my protector and His banner over me is love!”
