"They say light shines brighter in the darkness. But I'll say, light needs to be out there in the dark for it to shine."
By Pastor Dominic Yeo
For more than two years, COVID-19 restrictions have prevented missions-sending nations to send teams. Many churches had to pivot from in-person to online. Pastors and ministers had to put in so much more to bridge the digital gap and connect through screens. While it’s been an uphill climb, it’s not yet time for us to slow down.
More people are in need and we need to meet those needs not in our own strength, but with God’s divine provision.
Restoration of the Harvest Force
“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
Don’t give up! Don’t stop praying, giving, and going. Yes, there’s a virus, but there are souls heading toward eternal condemnation. All that we see around us shouldn’t take us by surprise. It’s written in the Bible. It’s been foretold.
There will be earthquakes and natural disasters (Matt 24:7; Luke 21:11); wars, rumors of war, violence, and lawlessness (Matt 24:6, Luke 21:9-10); drought and famine (Matt 24:7; Luke 21:11); and pestilence and diseases (Rev 6:8). People will hear what they want to hear (2 Tim 3:1-5), and many will fall away (Matt 24:10: 1 Tim 4:1).
God is returning soon and souls are there to be won. When Jesus ascended to Heaven, the whistle for the end of time began. We are now waiting for heaven to blow the final whistle and bring an end to the extra time we have, to seek and save the lost.
We don’t know WHEN that will be, but it will SURELY happen.
We have a mission to preach the Good News. The time is fast approaching where the Church of Jesus Christ needs to stand tall in the midst of famines, natural disasters, pestilences, pandemics, wars, and rumors of wars. These are signs of end times and we the Church must shine the hope and life of Christ and not cower in fear!
Restoration of the Harvest Fields
“…open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)
They say light shines brighter in darkness. But I’ll say, light needs to be OUT THERE in the dark for it to shine. There is great darkness around us. There are so many missions opportunities that COVID-19 has opened. Project Rescue alone received an avalanche of girls and children with the pandemic shutting down red light districts.
There are new opportunities for business in missions as people need livelihoods. Destitute children need shelter (physically, mentally, socially, spiritually). COVID-19 has robbed families of loved ones, and there is just so much more that we can do as a Church.
Travel lanes will reopen. And when they do, will you be ready to Go – and make disciples of all nations?
Reflect & Respond
Pray for Ukraine. Let's stand and pray for the nation of Ukraine during these hours. Pray for the churches and missionaries as well, that the protection of God will be upon His people. Pray for His peace to come into that region.
Pray to be part of God's harvest force. Let's pray to receive a heavenly perspective towards life. May we not be distracted or derailed by all that is happening around us. Instead, may the Word bring us into remembrance that Christ is returning soon, and that the Holy Spirit wants to encounter us to bring His hope to the world in these end times.
